Salman Khan’s
Race 3 may have collected some 100 crores at the box-office but the film’s
director, Remo D’Souza wanted more in terms of critic and public appreciation.
He is dejected and disappointed with the reviews and the way Race 3 was
received by masses. In an interview with IANS, Remo has spoken at length on
film’s failure and lessons he learnt.
"I learnt
two very important things after that film. Firstly, never work on a half-baked
script, work on the script much harder before you roll the camera. And
secondly, I have learnt to put my foot down when it's needed, especially when
creative difference happens. One can argue till one level, but not after
that... So then, it's better to put my foot down," he told IANS.
Remo directed
Tiger Shroff and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Flying Jatt before Race 3.
Unfortunately, even the super-hero film turned out to be a dud at ticket
windows. However, except Flying Jatt, his other films like ABCD and ABCD 2 have
performed very well and were even liked by audiences. With Race 3, Remo
tasted commercial success but creatively he is dissatisfied.

"Looking at
the commercial success, I should be feeling happy, isn't it? Because when I
signed the film, I knew that it is a commercial film, so a good box office
collection is all the project aimed for. But my heart broke when the film faced
trolls and audience made fun of it on the Internet. I am a creative person. I
am emotional and sensitive. I cannot take those trolls so sportingly to say 'I
don't care'. I do care, of course, those trolls affected my mind," said
the director.
While talking to
PTI, Remo even accepted that there were glitches in the story of Race 3 but he
has seen worse films get better response. "Entertainment-wise we had great
action, songs, 3D, etc. People loved the action but then suddenly trolls
started. The action was done by people who are masters in action... Story wise
I agree there were glitches. But I have seen worst films becoming a hit,"
Remo told PTI.
Not just this,
Remo also revealed how Salman pacified him when the superstar went to meet him
after the film released. He told Remo that it was fine and the film is
earning money. Salman also told the director that he should be happy as Race 3
has done better than his last directorial venture.
